To protect and preserve this natural heritage, the city has implemented an Environmental Preservation Fee for all vehicles entering the city, banned the use, commercialization, and distribution of single-use plastic and styrofoam disposables as well as plastic bags, maintains the Blue Flag program on three city beaches, and the Local Tourism Economic Development Program – DEL Turismo.
