Karakol
In recent years, Karakol has been attracting visitors primarily as a gateway for the conduct of summer outdoor activities in its pristine natural surroundings. This came with shortages in available quality experiences for visitors, as the destination could not keep up with the demand. At the same time, there were few incentives for locals to enhance their skillset and use tourism’s year-round potential, as income-generating activities tended to be limited to the short summer months. The creation of the public union Destination Karakol in 2016 helped to unify local actors and together with international partners capacity-building opportunities were implemented. Today, this means that Karakol has professionals that can work as ever more skilled outdoor guides in the summer, but also possess the needed qualifications to work as winter sports instructors, or conduct, for example, cultural walking tours at any time of the year.
Sustainability
Kyrgyzstan, with its population of around 6.5 million, is predominantly characterized by its stunning mountainous terrain, covering over 80% of its land. The country has established multiple National Parks and protected areas to safeguard its rich natural diversity, encompassing flora and fauna unique to the region.
While challenges related to carbon emissions persist, the nation is actively exploring green energy solutions to mitigate its environmental impact, striving for a more eco-friendly and sustainable future.

Try Local Food and Products
Brazilian cuisine is highly underrated! While Mexican food conquered the world (for good reasons!), most people are not familiar with Brazilian dishes and never had the chance to try.
So, if you are in Brazil, take this opportunity to explore the immense variety of local fruits, legumes and vegetables, many only found in South America! The cuisine changes drastically from region to region in Brazil, but some ingredients are loved and used daily by all Brazilians, such as rice, beans and mandioca (cassava).
Also, if you have a sweet tooth, our desserts will definitely not disappoint!

Getting around
Depending on the location of the places you wish to visit, it is often more convenient to fly, after all Brazil is huge! All capital cities and major destinations are served with national (and sometimes international) airports. Renting a car or travelling by bus, nevertheless, are also very good options for a more slow-paced travel. Buses are affordable and comfortable, but renting your own vehicle is more suitable for reaching more secluded places and for having more freedom to enjoy the landscapes and cities. Travelling by train is not an option, as railways are used only for the transportation of goods. There are, however, a few exceptions of scenic train routes for tourists, such as the one in Rio Negrinho, one of our featured sustainable destinations.

Kyrgyzstan’s nature is like a treasure trove of untouched beauty. Its landscapes include massive mountain ranges, like the Tian Shan, where you can find lots of different plants and animals. You might see rare creatures like snow leopards and ibex, as well as big sheep called Marco Polo sheep. The country is full of green meadows, clear lakes, and hidden valleys, and you can spot special plants and animals in these places.
