Sustainability
Turkey has been making progress regarding sustainable practices during the last years. Some of the measures that have been implemented focus on expanding its zero-waste policy, separating waste at the source, providing recycling services to businesses, and providing solid waste and wastewater treatment services to all citizens.
As Turkey continues to work on sustainability, eco-friendly practices and responsible tourism are becoming more prominent, contributing to the country’s long-term environmental and economic well-being.
Turkey has an extensive network of buses, trams, metros, and other forms of public transportation in major cities, making it convenient for local and regional travel. You can also use long-distance buses for intercity travel, which are quite efficient and comfortable. Furthermore, there’s an extensive railway network. In areas with less frequent public transport, shared taxis known as “dolmuş” are common and provide flexibility for reaching destinations. While public transport can take you to many places in Turkey, especially in urban areas, some remote or less-visited areas may require a combination of public transport and additional arrangements.
Tourism & People
Turkey is a captivating destination that bridges continents and cultures, making it a unique experience for travelers. With a rich tapestry of history, from ancient ruins to vibrant bazaars, and stunning landscapes encompassing beaches, mountains, and valleys, there’s something for everyone.
Turkish hospitality, renowned for its warmth, ensures that visitors feel welcome and at home. The fusion of tradition and modernity, along with the diverse cuisine, adds depth to your travel experience and explains why it is one of the most visited countries in the world.
Nature & Wildlife
Turkey boasts a remarkable wealth of natural diversity with over 10,000 plant species, of which 20% are unique to the country. This botanical richness thrives in various ecosystems, including forests, mountains, wetlands, and coastal regions. Turkey’s conservation efforts are evident through 39 national parks, 32 national reserves, and 19 Special Areas of Environmental Protection created since 1990.
Turkey’s wildlife is equally captivating, with over 80,000 species, including 114 mammals like brown bears and wolves. The country serves as a crucial migratory stopover for 400 bird species, contributing to its status as one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots.

“Brazil is a worldwide known hotspot for biodiversity as well as home to a multitude of cultural expressions. The natural and cultural heritage and immense variety of tourism experiences in the country are valuable assets for its competitiveness. Yet, as we envision a post Covid-19 era, sustainability in tourism becomes crucial to build resilience and guarantee the long-lasting health of Brazil’s ecosystems and well-being of the hosting communities. This would also ensure an active contribution of the country’s tourism sector to the Sustainable Development Goals.”
