Bursa

Bursa brings together historic heritage, nature, and vibrant local life

Why visit Bursa?

Located on the foothills of Uludağ in northwest Türkiye, offers a compelling blend of cultural heritage and natural landscapes. As the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, the city is known for its historic mosques, traditional bazaars, silk craftsmanship, and UNESCO-listed early Ottoman architecture. Daily life and tourism are closely intertwined through local markets, thermal baths, and a rich culinary tradition, including İskender kebab and chestnut-based desserts. Beyond the city center, Bursa is surrounded by forests, fertile agricultural lands, and thermal spring resources. Uludağ National Park provides year-round opportunities for hiking, skiing, and nature observation, while supporting diverse ecosystems and wildlife.

Sustainability

Developed in collaboration with Green Destinations’ Good Travel Institute and in partnership with Bursa Metropolitan Municipality under the city’s visionary “Green Bursa Again” strategy, the Green Bursa Labelling System is a place-based sustainability program designed exclusively for Bursa. The initiative mobilizes tourism businesses and stakeholders across the entire value chain to embrace the green destination concept, promote responsible supplier choices, and elevate quality and sustainability standards. Through Green Bursa, the city is strengthening its international reputation as a leading sustainable destination while renewing its historic identity as a green city on the global stage.
