Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the Albères mountains, on the Spanish border, the destination brings together 15 municipalities united around a resolutely sustainable tourism policy. This unique region promotes local tourism based on preserving the landscape, passing on traditional skills (Collioure anchovies, Banyuls AOC wines) and encouraging visitors to adopt responsible practices.
The destination carries out numerous initiatives: Grand Site Occitanie “Collioure en Côte Vermeille”, Territorial Climate Air Energy Plan (PCAET), TACCT strategy for adaptation to climate change, soft mobility (EuroVélo 8, Rail Tour, TER at £1).
It relies on active local governance and digital tools such as GEOTREK PyMed and Baludik to promote sustainable experiences.
Often perceived as a simple seaside resort, the destination surprises visitors with its unexpected natural wealth, preserved biodiversity and authentic villages. It is a fragile territory, exposed to the effects of climate change, but one that has been taking action for several years. By reconciling tourism, quality of life and ecological transition, it wishes to continue this momentum to become a concrete example of adaptation and collective commitment.
